Although you should be careful with all drivers that you install on your computer, Ho RNDIS has been tested at least well enough for the author (and many others) to run full time on their own personal computers.
Ho RNDIS is implemented as a , rather than as a user-space program that opens a TAP or TUN device; this means that it does not conflict with other TAP/TUN kexts that you might have installed (like Open VPN, Tunnelblick, or Cisco VPN).
The point upgrades mostly went without problem until 10.7.4.
This is not intended as a complete install-from-nothing guide, requiring a working 10.7.x system to start with. My Gigabyte P35-DS3R/Q6600 system was re-purposed at the start of 2012, and replaced with the following: This was setup with Mac OS 10.7 Lion as a fresh install.
Unfortunately, 10.6.8 was- and still is- proving to be quite troublesome.
